Commercial Freezer Sales in Delaware: When to Replace Your Equipment

Commercial Equipment Service offers commercial freezer sales in Delaware as well as equipment repairs for businesses. No restaurant or food shop owner wants to consider replacing a commercial freezer, but sometimes that is the best course of action. If you are uncertain, or unwilling to forgo repairs for a new freezer, here are the signs that replacement is necessary:

  • Constant temperatures are impossible: When the current temperature of your cooling devices becomes a gamble, you likely need a new appliance. If temperatures change dramatically or never stay at the temperature needed to keep food safe, you risk your reputation if you do not replace the unit.
  • Rising utility costs: As the parts in your freezer wear out, it will demand more power. Many restaurant owners notice a utility cost spike before an appliance fails. If you see frost buildup on the interior panel along with the bill increase, that is major cause for concern. That is also a sign that the freezer is not keeping a good temperature and you will likely find it not working one day. Replace it now before that expense becomes an emergency involving business downtime and lost revenue.
  • Wall and floor damage: Corrosion is an obvious sign that your freezer will soon be no more. You will find rust inside and around the panel joints. Your employees may mention drafts around the freezer as seams start to open up and let air escape. The money you think you are saving by toughing this out will only be diverted to high utility costs and shutdown time when your freezer just stops one day. There is no way to repair the corrosion, so plan to purchase a new freezer in the near future.
  • Doors quit closing: Seals around the door will wear out eventually. One sign that they are no longer holding on is that the door never quite closes all the way. If you have a door alarm, it will start going off more frequently, even as employees promise you that they made a good effort to assure the freezer was closed. Sometimes, cleaning the seals will solve this problem, especially if your freezer is less than 10 years old. However, there is also a chance that the deterioration of the seals is too far advanced and your only option is a new freezer.
  • End of useful life: The good news with commercial freezers and refrigerators is that their lifespan is long. These appliances normally last 15 to 30 years, so you do not have to think about replacement often. Many higher-end models that were well taken care of could last even longer. However, like any other machine, freezers have a projected useful life. If you do not know when the freezer was last replaced and you find its abilities decreasing, it is likely time to replace it before it gets too old. Calling in an experienced repair technician for an honest opinion can help you make this decision.
