Troubleshooting Manitowoc Ice Machines

Ice machines are a crucial part of many companies today, especially in the food and beverage industry, so of course you want to make sure yours is operating at all times. If you do encounter a problem, you might wonder whether it’s something you can handle on your own, or if you should call a professional for ice machine repair in Delaware.

Commercial Equipment Service is here to assist you with all your beverage system repairs in Delaware, including for your Manitowoc system. Give us a call to get your ice machine up and running again fast! In the meantime, here are some troubleshooting tips to help you out.

The machine just won’t work

If your ice machine just plain won’t turn on, try that eye-rollingly obvious solution first: make sure the unit is firmly plugged in. Sometimes a plug can get jostled loose, so it can’t hurt to check.

Next, check your circuit breaker, and make sure a surge didn’t trip the switch or blow a fuse. If these solutions are a no-go, you might have a damper that’s stuck. If it’s lodged in the open position, your machine will wisely turn off until the issue is fixed.

The machine isn’t producing ice

What’s the point of an ice machine if you can’t get ice any time you need it? One of the most common calls for ice machine repair in Delaware involves a machine that either isn’t producing ice, or is producing it very, very slowly.

First, try a thorough cleaning to make sure there is no buildup or anything caught in the works. Next, check to see if the air temperature inside is cold enough. Any machine that uses air cooling needs to be a minimum of 40 degrees Fahrenheit to produce ice regularly.

For machines that use water cooling to produce ice, the water regulating valve should be fully sealed. If it’s sprung a leak, have it replaced right away.

The machine produces bad ice

By “bad” ice, we mean ice that is not up to standard, such as opaque or soft cubes. The culprit here is most likely your water quality. Specifically, you probably have poor water quality that is affecting the performance of your machine. To get rid of this problem, call a specialist in beverage system repairs in Delaware who can test your water to determine its quality, and also give you some good filter recommendations.

The machine produces small cubes

If you find that your machine is giving you little cubes or pieces of cubes that don’t seem fully formed, you could have an issue with your water temperature or levels. If you’ve checked that your water is cold enough and that the water trough isn’t too high or low, take a look at your water float valve. If the screen is dirty, replacing the filter could be the solution.

Ice machine repair in Delaware is generally best left to the professionals, so give the team at Commercial Equipment Service a call for your repairs and maintenance.
