Commercial Restaurant Kitchen Checklist

Outfitting a new kitchen can be an expensive endeavor, and finding affordable, high-quality restaurant equipment sales is often particularly difficult. Without the right help, you might find that you don’t even know how or where to start. Fortunately, your local restaurant equipment service in Delaware is here with some tips on how to get up and running with a few of the basics you will need in your new commercial kitchen:

  • Assess your kitchen’s design: The items that you need will be based in large part on the layout of your kitchen, and what type of food service you are providing. For example, you might be opening a full-service restaurant, complete with a prep line, chef’s station and server area laid out in a seamless fashion. Alternatively, you might be opening a self-service setup where customers help themselves to the food that has been prepared, such as at a buffet. Either way, there will likely be many people flowing in and out of the kitchen on various shifts throughout the day. This means that you will need to start by getting items and equipment that will help you develop a consistent and reliable system so that everyone remains organized, particularly during the busy periods.
  • Getting started: Even if your budget is somewhat restricted when you are first opening, there will be a few basics that you have to take care of. To start, you will need a quality stove and oven that are large enough to ensure that you never have to worry about running out of hot food for your customers. The size that you get, whether it be a four-burner range or something larger, will be based on the demand in your particular kitchen. You will also need to include an exhaust system to keep the humidity and moisture out of the kitchen, so as to preserve the condition of the food that is being prepared and plated, and for the comfort of your employees.
  • Freezer and cold storage solutions: The amount of food you need to have on hand to serve your customers daily will determine your refrigeration requirements. The amount and type of inventory you need will influence whether you need to invest in a walk-in freezer, or if you can use a smaller alternative such as an individual refrigeration unit.
  • Beverage station: You will also need to look into the beverage solution that works best for your restaurant. Whether you will be selling predominately cold drinks, warm drinks or both, you will have to determine what type of equipment would be needed to ensure that your customers are refreshed throughout their entire visit.

Whether your restaurant is big or small, the kitchen will serve as the heartbeat of your entire operation, and as such should be equipped with all the necessities. Here at Commercial Equipment Service, we offer restaurant equipment sales in Delaware that will help make your restaurant a success, along with the restaurant equipment service that will keep the tools of your trade running efficiently. Give us a call today to schedule your consultation so we can begin discussing how to take your kitchen to the next level!
